  • RET inhibitor

    CAS:
<p>RET inhibitors are a class of drugs that inhibit the RET protein. RET is a tyrosine kinase receptor that is involved in many functions, including neuronal function and tumor growth. RET inhibitors have minimal toxicity and may be useful as potential biomarkers for assessing neuronal function in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. RET inhibitors also have anti-tumor effects against solid tumours, such as colorectal adenocarcinoma. These drugs inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by blocking epidermal growth factor (EGF) signalling and by inducing matrix effects on tumors. The RET inhibitor cabozantinib has been shown to inhibit the activity of human cyp3a4, which is a cytochrome P450 enzyme responsible for metabolizing many medications. This property makes it more selective than other drugs in its class. Cabozantinib binds to the ATP-binding pocket of RET, inhibiting its kinase activity, leading to cell death.</p>
