CAS 199-54-2
:Benz[e]aceanthrylene
Description:
Benz[e]aceanthrylene, with the CAS number 199-54-2, is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) characterized by its complex fused ring structure, which consists of five interconnected aromatic rings. This compound is known for its planar geometry, contributing to its stability and potential for strong π-π stacking interactions. Benz[e]aceanthrylene is typically a solid at room temperature and exhibits a high melting point, indicative of its robust intermolecular forces. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents, which is common for PAHs. This substance is of interest in various fields, including materials science and organic electronics, due to its electronic properties and potential applications in organic semiconductors. Additionally, like many PAHs, benz[e]aceanthrylene is considered to have environmental and health implications, as some PAHs are known to be carcinogenic. Therefore, handling this compound requires appropriate safety measures to mitigate exposure risks.
