2-(2-Propenyloxy)-1,1'-biphenyl is a natural compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase. This compound may have potential as an anti-inflammatory drug. The mechanism of action for this compound has been elucidated by LC-MS/MS methods. 2-(2-Propenyloxy)-1,1'-biphenyl inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and thereby reducing inflammation. It also inhibits lipoxgenase and thereby reduces inflammatory leukotrienes.
