CAS 20623-13-6
:nitritocobalamin
Description:
Nitritocobalamin, with the CAS number 20623-13-6, is a derivative of cobalamin, commonly known as vitamin B12. This compound features a nitrito group (-ONO) attached to the cobalt center of the cobalamin structure, which is essential for various biological functions. Nitritocobalamin is characterized by its complex coordination chemistry, where cobalt can exist in different oxidation states, influencing its reactivity and biological activity. It is typically a reddish-purple crystalline solid, soluble in water, and exhibits stability under certain conditions. The presence of the nitrito group can affect its interaction with biological molecules and its overall bioavailability. While cobalamin is crucial for DNA synthesis and red blood cell formation, nitritocobalamin's specific biological roles and potential applications in medicine or biochemistry are less well-studied. As with many cobalamin derivatives, it may have implications in research related to enzyme catalysis and metabolic pathways. Overall, nitritocobalamin represents an interesting area of study within the broader context of vitamin B12 chemistry.

CAS:
Nitritocobalamin is a crystalline cellulose that is used as a chinese herb. It has been shown to have beneficial effects on pancreatic function and fatty acid metabolism in humans. Nitritocobalamin also has the ability to reduce nitrite ions to nitric oxide, which is important for human liver health. Nitritocobalamin is also known for its ability to inhibit the production of low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and cell proliferation in cultured cells. The target enzyme nitrite reductase was found to be inhibited by nitritocobalamin in both rat liver and human liver cell lines. In addition, melaleuca alternifolia showed low expression of nitrite reductase, which may be due to inhibition by nitritocobalamin.
Formula:C62H88CoN14O16PPurity:85%MinMolecular weight:1,375.35 g/mol
