Dichlorotris(1,10-phenanthroline)ruthenium(II) hydrate is a chromatographic reagent for the separation of organic isomers. It has been shown to be an effective reagent for the imprinting of proteins and antibodies on-line in analytical chemistry and bioconjugate techniques. The cavity of the molecule can be tailored to bind to specific antigens. Dichlorotris(1,10-phenanthroline)ruthenium(II) hydrate has also been used as a catalyst in stereoselective reactions such as transfer reactions. This complex is also used for analytical chemistry as a reagent for c-reactive protein detection.
