β-D-Glucopyranosiduronic acid, 2-naphthalenyl, sodium salt (1:1)

Description:
β-D-Glucopyranosiduronic acid, 2-naphthalenyl, sodium salt (1:1), with the CAS number 20838-64-6, is a chemical compound characterized by its structure, which includes a glucopyranosiduronic acid moiety linked to a 2-naphthalenyl group. This compound is a sodium salt, indicating that it contains sodium ions that contribute to its solubility in water. The glucopyranosiduronic acid component suggests that it possesses both carbohydrate and uronic acid characteristics, which can influence its reactivity and biological interactions. The presence of the naphthalene moiety may impart hydrophobic properties, potentially affecting its solubility and interaction with biological membranes. This compound is likely to exhibit properties typical of glycosides, including potential applications in pharmaceuticals or as a biochemical probe. Its unique structure may also allow for specific interactions with enzymes or receptors, making it of interest in various biochemical and medicinal research contexts. As with many such compounds, its stability, reactivity, and biological activity would depend on environmental conditions and the presence of other substances.

  • 2-Naphthyl-β-D-Glucuronide Sodium Salt

    CAS:

2-Naphthyl-beta-D-glucuronide sodium salt is an enzyme substrate to detect beta-glucuronidase. The enzyme cleaves the glycosidic bond in 2-naphthyl-beta-D-glucuronide to release 2-naphtol and glucuronic acid. Beta-glucuronidase activity assays are important in many fields such as cancer research, as the enzyme is expressed in some tumors and its activity can be targeted for cancer therapy. The enzyme has also an important role in drug metabolism as it recognizes and binds to drug glucuronide conjugate (as 2-naphthyl-beta-D-glucuronide) facilitating its hydrolysis to release the active part. 2-Naphthyl-beta-D-glucuronide sodium salt has a higher solubility as it is in its salt form.
