(1R,3S)-3-[2-Amino-6-(cyclopropylamino)-9H-purin-9-yl]cyclopentanemethanol
CAS:Controlled Product
Impurity Abacavir EP Impurity E
Applications (1R,3S)-3-[2-Amino-6-(cyclopropylamino)-9H-purin-9-yl]cyclopentanemethanol (Abacavir EP Impurity E) is an impurity of Abacavir (A104990). Abacavir is a carbocyclic 2'-deoxyguanosine nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor and an anti-HIV drug used to treat HIV infection (1). Intracellular enzymes convert Abacavir to its active form, carbovir-triphosphate (CBV-TP), which then selectively inhibits HIV reverse transcriptase by incorporating into viral DNA (2). Abacavir is metabolized in the liver by uridine diphosphate glucuronyltransferase and alcohol dehydrogenase resulting in inactive glucuronide and carboxylate metabolites, respectively.
References (1) Jackson, A., et al.: Antivir Ther. 17, 19 (2012) (2) Yuen, G. CAS:
Abacavir impurity E is a crystalline solid that has been identified as an impurity present in abacavir. It exhibits affinity for the receptor and can be used to treat inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and other disorders. Abacavir impurity E binds to the receptor by binding to the zinc ion, which is a part of the zinc-binding site of the receptor. This binding leads to activation of the receptor and subsequent reactions. Abacavir impurity E is also known to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. The molecular weight of this substance is 643 g/mol, with a signal at m/z 54, which corresponds to C18H25NO3. The chemical formula for this substance is CH3(CH2)2N(CH3)2COOH.
Formula:C14H20N6O·C4H6O4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:406.44 g/mol
