8-Methoxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid (8MQCA) is a carboxylate that has been shown to be an effective antibacterial agent. 8MQCA can inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the cell wall and inhibiting the synthesis of proteins, leading to cell death.
