    3-((2S)-2-Azetidinylmethoxy)-5-iodo-pyridine is a neuroprotective agent that binds to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown to be active in animal models of stroke, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. The effects of 3-((2S)-2-Azetidinylmethoxy)-5-iodo-pyridine on glutamate toxicity were studied in Sprague Dawley rats. This compound was found to be protective against glutamate toxicity when administered before the glutamate insult. Functional assays revealed that 3-(2S)-2-azetidinylmethoxy) 5-iodo pyridine is a potent agonist for the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit.
