It is used as an analytical standard for drug development and in natural product research and development. The chemical properties of 2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-dithiolane are similar to those of its parent compound, but it has a smaller molecular weight. This compound has been found to be a substrate for CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 in vitro.
