Diacetolol

Description:
Diacetolol, with the CAS number 22568-64-5, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of beta-blockers, which are primarily used in the treatment of cardiovascular conditions. It is characterized by its ability to selectively block beta-adrenergic receptors, leading to a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure. Diacetolol is known for its relatively high lipid solubility, which can influence its pharmacokinetics and distribution within the body. The compound typically exhibits moderate oral bioavailability and is metabolized in the liver, with its metabolites being excreted primarily through the urine. In terms of physical properties, diacetolol is usually presented as a white to off-white crystalline powder, and it is soluble in organic solvents while having limited solubility in water. Its therapeutic applications extend beyond hypertension, as it may also be utilized in managing conditions such as anxiety and certain types of arrhythmias. As with any medication, potential side effects and contraindications should be considered when prescribing diacetolol.

    CAS:

Rac-Diacetolol is a racemic mixture of two isomers, (+) and (-), of acebutolol. Rac-Diacetolol is used to treat bowel disease, chronic oral inflammation and cardiac arrhythmias. It is also used as an experimental solubility probe in the study of the interactions between drugs and biological membranes. Rac-Diacetolol has been shown to have a low affinity for cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are responsible for metabolizing many drugs in the body. Rac-Diacetolol has been found to reduce plasma concentrations of PCSK9 antibody in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
