CAS 2362-64-3
:4-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide
Description:
4-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide, also known by its CAS number 2362-64-3, is an organic compound characterized by the presence of a methoxy group (-OCH3) and a carbothioamide functional group (-C(S)NH2) attached to a benzene ring. This compound typically appears as a solid at room temperature and is soluble in organic solvents due to its hydrophobic aromatic structure. The methoxy group enhances the compound's electron-donating properties, which can influence its reactivity and interactions in chemical reactions. 4-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide may exhibit biological activity, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. Its structural features suggest potential applications in the synthesis of other organic compounds, as well as in the development of agrochemicals or pharmaceuticals. As with many thioamide derivatives, it may also participate in various chemical reactions, including nucleophilic substitutions and condensation reactions. Proper handling and safety measures should be observed due to the potential toxicity associated with thioamide compounds.

CAS:
4-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide is a urea nitrogen analogue that inhibits the synthesis of urea and other nitrogenous compounds. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme pyruvic transaminase, which converts pyruvate to alanine. The drug is also an inhibitor of the enzyme lactam synthetase, which catalyzes the formation of lactams from amino acids. This activity results in decreased production of cancer cells and renal toxicity. 4-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro against a number of human cancer cell lines, including A549 lung carcinoma cells and MCF-7 breast cancer cells.
Formula:C8H9NOSPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:Off-White Yellow PowderMolecular weight:167.23 g/mol
