CAS:Controlled ProductBenfluorex hydrochloride is a fluorinated derivative of benfluorex, which is an experimental drug for the treatment of bone cancer. It was shown to be effective in treating bowel disease, primary pulmonary hypertension and carcinoid syndrome in animal models. Benfluorex hydrochloride inhibits the activity of enzymes that are involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids. It has been shown to increase uric acid levels and inhibit the activity of enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of amino acids. This leads to cell lysis and an increased production of glucose-6-phosphate. The use of benfluorex hydrochloride as a diagnostic tool has been studied extensively, with its most notable application being its use as a marker for group P2 enzyme activities.
