N2-Methyl-N4-[(pyrimidin-2-yl)methyl]-5-(quinolin-6-yl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-diamine is an inhibitor of the alpha subunit of the protein phosphatase 2A. This drug binds to the active site and inhibits the dephosphorylation of phosphoprotein substrates. N2-Methyl-N4-[(pyrimidin-2-yl)methyl]-5-(quinolin-6-yl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-- diamine has been shown to inhibit ion channels that are regulated by Ca++ concentration. It also inhibits the activation of protein kinase C by phorbol esters and has been used in pharmacological studies as a ligand for receptor binding studies.
