CAS:Conduritol B is a chiral, l-quebrachitol that is chemically synthesized. Conduritol B has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of beta-glucosidase, which is an enzyme involved in the hydrolysis of glycosides and the release of sugar monomers. Conduritol B selectively inhibits beta-glucosidase by binding to its active site and blocking access to the substrate. This inhibition prevents the hydrolysis of glycosides and yields a higher concentration of sugars. Conduritol B also has demethylation activity mediated by alcohols, with hydroxyl groups as moieties.
