:1-Bromo-2-octanone
Description:
1-Bromo-2-octanone is an organic compound characterized by its structure, which includes a bromine atom and a ketone functional group. It belongs to the class of bromoalkanes and ketones, featuring a straight-chain octane backbone with a bromine substituent at the first carbon and a ketone group at the second carbon. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a distinctive odor. It is moderately soluble in organic solvents and exhibits low solubility in water due to its hydrophobic octane chain. The presence of the bromine atom makes it a reactive species, often participating in nucleophilic substitution reactions. 1-Bromo-2-octanone can be used in various applications, including organic synthesis and as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Safety precautions should be taken when handling this compound, as it may pose health risks, including skin and respiratory irritation. Proper storage and disposal methods are essential to mitigate environmental impact.

1-Bromooctan-2-one
CAS:
1-Bromooctan-2-one (BOA) is a lipolytic enzyme inhibitor that blocks the activity of phosphatidylcholine lipase and monoacylglycerol lipase. It also inhibits transport properties and has been shown to inhibit histidine decarboxylase, which converts histidine into histamine. The nitrogen atoms in BOA are substituted with fluorine and can be converted to enantiopure derivatives by chemoenzymatic reactions. These derivatives have been shown to be more potent inhibitors of phosphatidylcholine lipase than BOA itself.
Formula:C8H15BrOPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:207.11 g/mol
