N-Benzyl-1H-1,3-benzodiazol-2-amine is an antihistaminic that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of histamine release from mast cells. It has been used in the treatment of anaphylaxis, cutaneous and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis, as well as in vitro activity against Leishmania species. This drug does not inhibit the release of histamine from basophils or eosinophils.
N-Benzyl-1H-1,3-benzodiazol-2-amine is a competitive inhibitor of leukotriene C4 synthase and is an antagonist at the H2 receptor. It also inhibits the activity of amastigotes and other intracellular targets.
