1-Benzylpiperazine is an analytical method for measuring the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, in wastewater. It is used for the treatment of wastewater because it has been shown to be effective at removing nitrogen from wastewater. 1-Benzylpiperazine is also a metabolite of benzylpiperazine, which has been shown to have physiological effects on locomotor activity and the production of lc-ms/ms.
