:(1-Hydroxyethylidene)-1,1-diphosphonic acid
Description:
(1-Hydroxyethylidene)-1,1-diphosphonic acid, commonly referred to as HEDP, is a phosphonic acid derivative characterized by its ability to chelate metal ions, making it useful in various applications, particularly in water treatment and industrial processes. It features two phosphonic acid groups and a hydroxyethylidene moiety, which contribute to its strong affinity for calcium and other divalent metal ions. HEDP is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid or solid, soluble in water, and exhibits excellent stability under a range of pH conditions. Its chelating properties help prevent scale formation and corrosion in water systems, making it valuable in cooling water systems, oilfield applications, and detergents. Additionally, HEDP is known for its low toxicity and environmental compatibility, which enhances its appeal in various formulations. The compound is also utilized in the agricultural sector as a fertilizer additive to improve nutrient availability. Overall, HEDP is a versatile chemical with significant industrial relevance due to its unique chemical structure and properties.

CAS:1-Hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) is a phosphonate that has been used as an inhibitor of the enzyme histone deacetylase. HEDP inhibits collagen production and root formation in cells. It also inhibits the uptake and mineralization of calcium by skin cells. HEDP has a strong inhibitory effect on protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to bind to the active site of the enzyme protein kinase. In a short-term exposure experiment using an experimental model, HEDP caused significant cellular damage in the skin, which included increased cell death and decreased cell proliferation. HEDP also caused severe disruption of collagen fibers in the dermis layer of the skin.Formula:C2H8O7P2Purity:(Titration) 59.0 To 65.0%Color and Shape:White Clear LiquidMolecular weight:206.03 g/mol
