CAS:Isoamyltriphenylphosphonium bromide is a corrosion inhibitor that is used to protect metals, such as steel and aluminum, from damage caused by water and other corrosive substances. It is also an antifungal agent and can be used in pharmaceutical formulations. Isoamyltriphenylphosphonium bromide has been shown to inhibit the activity of thrombin, an enzyme that regulates blood clotting. This drug also inhibits the growth of fungi that cause infections such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis) or ringworm (tinea corporis). In addition, it has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
