:Ursocholic acid
Description:
Ursocholic acid, also known as ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), is a bile acid that is derived from the metabolism of cholesterol. It is characterized by its hydrophilic properties, which allow it to reduce the solubility of cholesterol in bile, thereby aiding in the prevention of cholesterol gallstone formation. The chemical structure of ursocholic acid features a unique arrangement of hydroxyl groups, which contributes to its ability to interact with cell membranes and influence various physiological processes. It is commonly used in clinical settings for the treatment of certain liver diseases, such as primary biliary cholangitis, and is known for its hepatoprotective effects. Additionally, ursocholic acid has been studied for its potential benefits in improving insulin sensitivity and its role in modulating gut microbiota. Its safety profile is generally favorable, making it a valuable therapeutic agent in managing cholestatic liver disorders.

CAS:Controlled Product
Ursocholic acid is a bile acid that is used in the treatment of pediatric bowel disease. Ursocholic acid reduces the formation of cholesterol gallstones and its use has been shown to improve the symptoms of congestive heart failure. The mechanism of action for ursocholic acid is not fully understood but it has been shown to increase the amount of serum bile acids and reduce the amount of hydroxyl group in bile acids. Ursocholic acid also increases cell lysis by interacting with hydrophobic regions on the surface of cells. There are high concentrations of ursocholic acid found in human feces, which may be due to its hydrophobic effect. Ursocholic acid also inhibits HIV infection by binding to gp120, preventing gp120 from binding to CD4 receptors on T-cells.
Formula:C24H40O5Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:408.57 g/mol
