3,3-Dimethylcyclohexanone (DMC) is a synthetic compound that is used as a feedstock in the production of plastics. It has been shown to have estrogenic properties in animal studies and may be harmful to humans. DMC is metabolized by rat liver microsomes and is also an inhibitor of glutamate pyruvate transaminase. This compound has a constant boiling point and a low density, with melting point at -4°C.
