:O,O'-diethyl dithiophosphate
Description:
O,O'-Diethyl dithiophosphate is an organophosphorus compound characterized by its dithiophosphate functional group, which consists of two ethyl groups attached to a phosphorus atom that is also bonded to two thiol groups (sulfhydryl groups). This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a distinctive odor. It is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water. O,O'-Diethyl dithiophosphate is primarily used as a chelating agent and as an additive in various industrial applications, including agriculture as a pesticide and in the formulation of metal extraction processes. The compound exhibits properties typical of dithiophosphates, such as the ability to form complexes with metal ions, which enhances its utility in mineral processing. However, it is important to handle this substance with care due to its potential toxicity and environmental impact, as it can be harmful to aquatic life and may pose risks to human health if not managed properly. Proper safety measures and regulations should be followed when using this chemical.

CAS:Controlled Product
O,O'-Diethyl dithiophosphate (ODDT) is a wastewater treatment agent that has been used for the removal of copper from industrial wastes. It reacts with sodium carbonate to form the soluble copper complex and precipitates as the insoluble copper sulphide. The reaction of ODDT with copper is an oxidation-reduction process that occurs at the surface of the metal. This reaction has been shown to be beneficial for the removal of lead from solutions. It has also been used as a cationic surfactant in analytical chemistry. ODDT has shown neurotoxic effects in animals and its mechanism may be due to its ability to inhibit oxidative phosphorylation by binding to cytochrome c oxidase, leading to neuronal death. This molecule is fluorescent and can be detected using fluorescence spectrometry or adsorption onto a detector surface.
Formula:C4H11O2PS2Purity:(%) Min. 85%Molecular weight:186.23 g/molO,O-Diethyl Dithiophosphate extrapure, 85%
