It has antiviral properties against influenza, herpes simplex virus type 1, hepatitis B virus, and human immunodeficiency virus type 1. 2-Amino-8-bromo-9-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)purine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and breast cancer. This drug is a novel nucleoside analogue that is used for cancer chemotherapy. 2-Amino 8 bromo 9 (b D ribofuranosyl) purine is not active against bacteria or fungi.
