CAS 3069-19-0
:Hexyltrimethoxysilane
Description:
Hexyltrimethoxysilane, with the CAS number 3069-19-0, is an organosilicon compound characterized by its silane structure, which includes a hexyl group and three methoxy groups attached to a silicon atom. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a mild odor. It is known for its ability to act as a coupling agent, promoting adhesion between organic materials and inorganic substrates, making it valuable in various applications such as coatings, sealants, and adhesives. Hexyltrimethoxysilane exhibits good hydrolytic stability and can undergo hydrolysis to form silanol groups, which can further condense to form siloxane networks. Its hydrophobic properties make it useful for enhancing water repellency in treated surfaces. Additionally, it is soluble in organic solvents, which facilitates its incorporation into formulations. Safety considerations include handling it with care, as it may cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Overall, hexyltrimethoxysilane is a versatile compound with significant utility in materials science and surface modification.

CAS:
Alkyl Silane - Conventional Surface Bonding
Aliphatic, fluorinated aliphatic or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon substituents are the hydrophobic entities which enable silanes to induce surface hydrophobicity. The organic substitution of the silane must be non-polar. The hydrophobic effect of the organic substitution can be related to the free energy of transfer of hydrocarbon molecules from an aqueous phase to a homogeneous hydrocarbon phase. A successful hydrophobic coating must eliminate or mitigate hydrogen bonding and shield polar surfaces from interaction with water by creating a non-polar interphase. Although silane and silicone derived coatings are in general the most hydrophobic, they maintain a high degree of permeability to water vapor. This allows coatings to breathe and reduce deterioration at the coating interface associated with entrapped water. Since ions are not transported through non-polar silane and silicone coatings, they offer protection to composite structures ranging from pigmented coatings to rebar reinforced concrete. A selection guide for hydrophobic silanes can be found on pages 22-31 of the Hydrophobicity, Hydrophilicity and Silane Surface Modification brochure.
Hexyltrimethoxysilane; Trimethoxyhexylsilane; Trimethoxysilylhexane
Surface modification of TiO2 pigments improves dispersionTrialkoxy silane

Formula:C9H22O3SiPurity:97%Color and Shape:Straw LiquidMolecular weight:206.35
