3,5-Dinitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a sulfonyl chloride that is used as a precursor in the synthesis of dendrimers. 3,5-Dinitrobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride has been used to synthesize dendrimers with sulfonate groups on their surface. The sulfonate groups can be used to attach other molecules to the dendrimer and provide functionality. This compound can also be used to form tetranitrochloride by reacting it with sodium chlorite in aqueous solution.
