Acetamide, N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)-

Description:
Acetamide, N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)-, also known by its CAS number 326-67-0, is an organic compound characterized by the presence of an acetamide functional group attached to a substituted aromatic ring. This compound features a fluorine atom and a methyl group on the aromatic ring, which can influence its chemical reactivity and physical properties. Typically, acetamides exhibit moderate polarity due to the presence of the amide group, which can engage in hydrogen bonding. The fluorine substitution can enhance the compound's lipophilicity and alter its electronic properties, potentially affecting its biological activity. Acetamides are often used in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, serving as intermediates in the synthesis of various biologically active compounds. The specific characteristics, such as melting point, boiling point, and solubility, can vary based on the molecular structure and substituents present. Safety data should be consulted for handling and storage, as with any chemical substance.

  • N-(2-Fluoro-4-methylphenyl)acetamide

    CAS:

N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)acetamide (FMAA) is a sterically hindered, regioselective amine brominating agent. FMAA has shown high efficiency in the conversion of anilides to bromides. FMAA is also very efficient in orienting the substrates for bromination and can be used to prepare N-(2-bromo-4-methylphenyl)acetamide. The selectivity of this reagent is due to its steric effect that prevents the substrate from reacting with other functional groups on the molecule. FMAA has been successfully used in the synthesis of 2-[(2,6-dichlorophenyl)amino]-N-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)acetamide and 2-[(3,5-dichlorophenyl)amino]-N-(3,5,6-trimethylphenyl)acetamide.
