CAS 3282-73-3
:Didodecyldimethylammonium bromide
Description:
Didodecyldimethylammonium bromide, with the CAS number 3282-73-3, is a quaternary ammonium compound characterized by its long hydrophobic alkyl chains and a positively charged nitrogen atom. This substance typically appears as a white to off-white solid or powder and is soluble in organic solvents while exhibiting limited solubility in water. Its structure consists of two dodecyl (C12) alkyl groups attached to a dimethylammonium moiety, contributing to its surfactant properties. Didodecyldimethylammonium bromide is known for its antimicrobial and biocidal activities, making it useful in various applications, including disinfectants, preservatives, and as a phase transfer catalyst. Additionally, it can act as a cationic surfactant, facilitating the emulsification and stabilization of formulations. However, due to its quaternary ammonium nature, it may pose environmental concerns, particularly regarding aquatic toxicity. Proper handling and disposal are essential to mitigate potential risks associated with its use.

CAS:
Didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDDAB) is a quaternary ammonium salt that acts as a p-gp substrate. It inhibits the growth of bacteria, such as Hl-60 cells, by binding to and blocking the efflux pump protein. DDDAB has been shown to be effective in the treatment of infectious diseases in animal models, including sepsis and pneumonia. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to metal hydroxides and metal ions, thereby inhibiting enzymatic activity. The biological properties of DDDAB are not fully understood but it has been shown that this drug can form disulfide bonds with other molecules and exhibits phase transition temperatures near room temperature. DDDAB also reacts with benzalkonium chloride and surfactants to form stable salts that have been shown to be effective for wastewater treatment.
Formula:C26H56BrNPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:462.63 g/molDidodecyldimethylammonium Bromide
