D-Mannose, 6-(dihydrogen phosphate), sodium salt (1:2)

Description:
D-Mannose, 6-(dihydrogen phosphate), sodium salt (1:2) is a chemical compound that serves as a phosphorylated form of D-mannose, a simple sugar and an epimer of glucose. This compound is characterized by the presence of a phosphate group, which enhances its solubility in water and its reactivity in biochemical processes. The sodium salt form indicates that sodium ions are associated with the phosphate group, which can influence its stability and bioavailability. D-Mannose is known for its role in carbohydrate metabolism and is often studied for its potential health benefits, particularly in urinary tract health, as it may inhibit the adhesion of certain bacteria to the urinary tract lining. The compound is typically white to off-white in appearance and is soluble in water, making it suitable for various applications in pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements. Its CAS number, 33068-18-7, is a unique identifier that facilitates the identification and regulation of this substance in scientific and industrial contexts.

  • D-Mannose-6-phosphate disodium salt hydrate

    CAS:

D-Mannose-6-phosphate disodium salt hydrate (DMDSP) is an endogenous pentose phosphate metabolite that is found in the human body. DMDSP is generated from the metabolism of mannose and glucose and functions as a regulator of metabolic intermediates. It has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth and function as a competitive inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme that maintains the integrity of bacterial DNA. Genetic polymorphism in the DMDP gene may be associated with changes in response to DMDSP. The reductive amination reaction can be used to synthesize this compound from L-aspartic acid, malic enzyme, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.
