1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-hydroxy-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid is a pyrazole with anticancer activity. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the protein synthesis and DNA replication in tumour cells.
This active form binds to DNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. This compound also has antiviral activity against herpes virus and vaccinia virus, and is effective against some tumour cell lines. 1-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-hydroxy-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid has been shown to be active against leukemia cells, lymphoma cells, neuroblastoma cells, breast cancer cells, colon cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, pancreatic cancer cells, hepatocellular carcinoma cells, lung cancer cell lines and other types of human cancers.
