The ESR spectrum of 9,10-bis(bromomethyl)anthracene in trifluoroacetic acid shows a single peak at g = 2.0286 and the emission spectrum exhibits peaks at 612 nm and 581 nm. 9,10-Bis(bromomethyl)anthracene has been used to detect potassium ions by observing the fluorescence properties of the chromophore.
