  • 3-Hydroxy lidocaine

    CAS:
    3-Hydroxy lidocaine is a metabolite of lidocaine and has been shown to be an inhibitor of human serum esterases and other enzymes. It binds to the active site of these enzymes, thereby preventing the hydrolysis of various substrates, including lidocaine. 3-Hydroxy lidocaine has also been shown to be used as an epidural anesthetic in human clinical trials. The pharmacokinetics of 3-hydroxy lidocaine is similar to that of lidocaine with respect to uptake, distribution, and elimination. The metabolism of 3-hydroxy lidocaine is mediated by cytochrome P450 isozyme CYP3A4 which may lead to drug interactions with drugs that are also metabolized by this enzyme system.
