CAS 355-42-0
:Perfluorohexane
Description:
Perfluorohexane, with the CAS number 355-42-0, is a fully fluorinated hydrocarbon belonging to the class of perfluoroalkanes. It consists of a six-carbon chain where all hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms, resulting in a highly stable and non-reactive compound. This substance is characterized by its low surface tension, high chemical stability, and resistance to thermal degradation, making it suitable for various applications, including as a solvent and in specialty coatings. Perfluorohexane is also notable for its low toxicity and non-biodegradability, which raises environmental concerns regarding its persistence in ecosystems. It has a high density and low viscosity, contributing to its unique physical properties. Additionally, perfluorohexane exhibits excellent thermal and chemical resistance, making it useful in high-performance applications. However, due to its environmental impact, its use is subject to regulatory scrutiny, particularly concerning its potential accumulation in living organisms and ecosystems.

CAS:Controlled Product
Perfluorohexane is a colorless, odorless gas that has high thermal expansion and low water vapor pressure. It is used as a solvent in the chemical industry and in the production of polymers. The chemical properties of perfluorohexane are similar to those of hexane and it can be used as a replacement for hexane in some applications. The solubility of perfluorohexane in water is higher than that of hexane and so it does not dissolve as much water when exposed to humid air. This increased solubility means that perfluorohexane has a lower risk of causing skin irritation or tissue damage when compared with hexane.
Perfluorohexane is not toxic to liver cells or human serum, but it is toxic to fibroblasts derived from human skin. Perfluorohexane also has no effect on phase transition temperature or chemical stability when compared with hexanes.
Formula:C6F14Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:338.04 g/mol
