    <p>Methysergide is a drug that is used to treat the pain, nausea and vomiting associated with cancer, as well as Parkinson's disease. Methysergide is also used to treat the symptoms of carcinoid syndrome, which is a rare disorder in which cells from the gastrointestinal tract release serotonin. Methysergide blocks glutamate receptors on nerve cells and inhibits the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), thereby reducing neuronal activity in certain areas of the brain.
