TC 1 is a polyester that was developed for use in the manufacture of mosquito nets. TC 1 has been shown to have no adverse effects on humans, animals, or the environment in epidemiological studies. TC 1 is a polymer made from 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and dimethyldiallyl-2,4-diisocyanate (DMDA). It has been studied as a potential candidate for vector control. The polyester is a nonwoven fabric that can be used as a netting material with an average mesh size of 3 mm. TC 1 has been shown to be effective against two strains of triatominae, including one strain resistant to permethrin and deltamethrin.
