CAS:
Genistein 7-O-glucuronide (GEN) is a plant flavonoid that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. GEN has been shown to be effective in cancer resistance studies, where dietary intake of GEN was found to suppress tumor growth. GEN has also been shown to inhibit the expression of genes involved in insulin resistance and glucose uptake. It is not yet known whether GEN can cross the blood-brain barrier and therefore it is unclear if this compound will be effective against brain tumors. The half life of GEN ranges from 6 hours in rat liver microsomes up to 36 hours in vivo, which may contribute to its lack of effectiveness when administered orally. The addition of an organic anion transporter inhibitor such as probenecid prolongs the half life and increases the bioavailability of orally administered GEN, suggesting that it may be more effective when taken by mouth.
Formula:C21H18O11Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:446.4 g/mol
