Its mode of action involves binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, disrupting protein synthesis by causing misreading of mRNA and inhibiting the initiation of translation. This mechanism is particularly effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-negative bacteria, including *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* and members of the Enterobacteriaceae family.
