Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid

Description:
Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid, with the CAS number 3913-50-6, is an organic compound that plays a significant role in biochemical processes, particularly in the metabolism of carbohydrates. It is characterized by the presence of both a phosphate group and a hydroxyl group attached to a pyruvic acid backbone. This compound is typically found in biological systems as an intermediate in various metabolic pathways, including glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway. Its structure allows it to participate in enzymatic reactions, facilitating the transfer of phosphate groups and contributing to energy production within cells. Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid is also of interest in research related to metabolic disorders and enzyme regulation. In terms of physical properties, it is generally a water-soluble compound, which is consistent with many biochemical intermediates. Its reactivity is influenced by the functional groups present, making it a key player in metabolic regulation and energy transfer processes in living organisms.

  • Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid

    CAS:

Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid is a drug that has been shown to inhibit serine hydrolase and methyl transferase, which are enzymes involved in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine. It also inhibits the activity of dehydrogenases, which are enzymes that catalyze the oxidation-reduction reaction in energy metabolism. Phosphohydroxypyruvic acid has been shown to have anticancer properties against MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells and wild-type strain cells. The drug blocks transcriptional regulation by binding to the receptor site on DNA and prevents transcription. A structural analysis of this drug showed that it binds to malonic acid at two sites, one site being close to the phosphate group and another site being close to the carboxyl group. This binding prevents phosphohydroxypyruvic acid from forming a stable complex with ATP, thereby inhibiting its reaction mechanism.
