CAS:2-Fluorobenzenenitrile is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of aryl fluorides. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of drugs, and is also used in the synthesis of pesticides. 2-Fluorobenzenenitrile reacts with phosphorus pentachloride to form aldol cyclization products. The reaction solution is usually acidified with trifluoroacetic acid and then heated to produce 2-fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride, which can be reacted with amines or ammonia to produce desired compounds. This compound has been shown to be toxic to animals, causing bladder cancer. In addition, it causes high blood pressure and affects DNA duplexes by forming covalent adducts with guanine bases at pH 7.2. It also binds to receptors on cells that are involved in regulating blood pressure.
