Carotegrast
CAS:
Carotegrast is a drug that has been approved for the treatment of HIV infection. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to carotegravir and piperazine. Carotegravir inhibits the HIV-1 protease, blocking the processing of viral proteins, which prevents new virus particles from being released. The activity of carotegravir has been shown in vitro and in clinical trials to be similar to that of other protease inhibitors such as saquinavir and ritonavir. Piperazine, a piperazine compound, has antiviral properties and may help to prevent HIV-1 replication by inhibiting reverse transcriptase activity. Carotegrast is effective against a wide range of HIV-1 subtypes and strains, including multidrug resistant isolates. This drug also has an excellent safety profile with no significant adverse events reported during clinical trials.
Formula:C27H24Cl2N4O5Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:555.4 g/molCarotegrast
