CAS:AMOZ is an antimicrobial agent that can be used to detect nitrite ion. It is a monoclonal antibody against nitrite ion with a light signal. It is highly sensitive and has been shown to bind to the nitrite ion in a liquid matrix, which can be detected by LC-MS/MS. AMOZ has been shown to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. AMOZ also inhibits the activity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The molecular docking analysis was performed on AMOZ and its crystal structure showed that it binds to the active site of bacterial nitrate reductase, preventing electron transfer from NADH to NAD+. This results in inhibition of bacterial respiration and ATP synthesis, leading to cell death.
