It is used as an anticancer agent in the treatment of cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and lung cancer. 3,4-Dimethyl-6-nitrobenzoic acid has been shown to be effective against species diversity and diversity of tumor cells. This compound inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. 3,4-Dimethyl-6-nitrobenzoic acid also binds to DNA and interferes with transcription and replication of DNA, causing cell death.
