CAS:Controlled ProductAllylestrenol is a synthetic steroid hormone that is used as a contraceptive. It works by preventing ovulation and thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg. Allylestrenol has been shown to have a statistically significant effect on infectious diseases of the ovary, such as endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and salpingitis. Allylestrenol also inhibits ovarian enzyme activity, which may lead to autoimmune diseases. This drug has not been studied for its toxicity or pharmacokinetics in humans, but it has been found to be highly toxic in animals with levels of allylestrenol that are 100 times higher than those found in humans. A polymer composition was developed to control the release of allylestrenol in vivo.
