CAS 4444-42-2
:Desmethylnortriptyline
Description:
Desmethylnortriptyline, with the CAS number 4444-42-2, is a tricyclic antidepressant that is a metabolite of nortriptyline. It is primarily characterized by its chemical structure, which includes three fused rings, contributing to its pharmacological properties. This compound exhibits a range of pharmacological activities, primarily functioning as a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which enhances mood and alleviates depressive symptoms. Desmethylnortriptyline is known for its potential side effects, which may include sedation, dry mouth, and cardiovascular effects, typical of tricyclic antidepressants. Its lipophilic nature allows it to cross the blood-brain barrier effectively, influencing central nervous system activity. The substance is also notable for its relatively long half-life, which can impact dosing regimens in clinical settings. As with other medications in its class, careful monitoring is essential to manage therapeutic effects and minimize adverse reactions. Overall, desmethylnortriptyline plays a significant role in the pharmacotherapy of depression and related mood disorders.

CAS:
Desmethylnortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant drug that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines in the intestine, which may be due to its effect on the induction of apoptosis by inhibiting protein synthesis. Desmethylnortriptyline also has a beneficial effect on bowel diseases, such as colitis and ileitis. This drug inhibits the uptake of serotonin in rat brains and can lead to decreased levels of serotonin in the brain and spinal cord, which may be responsible for its clinical response. Desmethylnortriptyline is metabolized by demethylation and deamination. It undergoes oxidative deamination by cytochrome P450 enzymes found in human liver microsomes and isolated heart tissue, generating an inactive product. The drug also undergoes oxidation by uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 (UGT1A1) to form an active metabolite.
Formula:C18H19NPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:249.3 g/mol
