:Cryptogenin
Description:
Cryptogenin is a naturally occurring steroidal sapogenin derived from various plant sources, particularly from the genus Dioscorea. It is characterized by its steroid structure, which includes a fused cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene core. Cryptogenin is typically a white to off-white crystalline powder, and it is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and chloroform. The compound exhibits biological activity, particularly in the context of its potential use in pharmaceuticals, as it can serve as a precursor for the synthesis of various steroidal compounds. Its molecular formula reflects a specific arrangement of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms, contributing to its unique properties. Cryptogenin is of interest in the field of medicinal chemistry for its potential applications in developing anti-inflammatory and anticancer agents. However, handling this compound requires caution due to its biological activity, and appropriate safety measures should be observed in laboratory settings.

CAS:Controlled Product
Cryptogenin is a hydroxylated steroidal alkaloid that has been isolated from the roots of Solanum tuberosum (potato). It has been found to have various physiological activities including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cyto-protective effects. The optimum concentration of cryptogenin for these effects is unknown, but it has been shown to be effective in vitro at concentrations ranging from 1 nM to 10 μM. Cryptogenin is also effective in vivo when injected into rats as a single dose at 20 mg/kg. This drug is not active orally due to hydrolysis by hydrochloric acid in the stomach and small intestine. In addition, cryptogenin may have beneficial effects on bowel disease by acting as a probiotic bacteria-promoting agent and an anti-inflammatory agent. Cryptogenin binds weakly to fatty acids and hydrogen bonds with sugars such as glucose or fructose.
Formula:C27H42O4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:430.62 g/mol
