CAS 475-25-2
:Hematein
Description:
Hematein, with the CAS number 475-25-2, is a chemical compound derived from hematoxylin, a natural dye extracted from the log of the tree Haematoxylum campechianum. It is primarily known for its use as a histological stain in biological and medical laboratories, particularly for staining cell nuclei in tissue sections. Hematein exhibits a deep blue to purple color when oxidized, which enhances the visibility of cellular structures under a microscope. The compound is soluble in alcohol and water, making it versatile for various staining protocols. Hematein functions by binding to nucleic acids, allowing for the differentiation of cellular components during microscopic examination. Additionally, it is important to handle hematein with care, as it can be a potential irritant. Its applications extend beyond histology to include use in various fields such as biochemistry and molecular biology, where it aids in the visualization of cellular morphology and pathology. Overall, hematein is a valuable tool in scientific research and diagnostics.

CAS:
Hematein is an extract of the traditional Chinese herb, Alisma plantago-aquatica. Hematein has been shown to exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro and in vivo. It's mechanism of action appears to be related to its ability to inhibit the activity of several enzymes, including xanthine oxidase, nitric oxide synthase (NOS), cyclooxygenase (COX), lipoxygenases (LOX), 5'-nucleotidase, and protein kinases. Hematein also binds to cell nuclei and inhibits staining with hematoxylin, which may account for its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis. Hematein has been shown to protect cells from oxidative damage induced by hydrogen peroxide in a dose-dependent manner. The protective effects were observed as early as 30 minutes after treatment with hematein and were concentration dependent up to a concentration of 10 μM. In addition, hematein showed significant protection
Formula:C16H12O6Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:300.26 g/mol
