N-(2-indol-3-ylethyl)benzamide (4-AIBA) is a functional, health functional food. It has shown anticancer activity in a human colon carcinoma cell line, and it inhibits the production of nitrous oxide from inducible nitric oxide synthase, which is important for tumor invasion. 4-AIBA also inhibits tyrosinase activity, an enzyme that is involved in melanin synthesis.
