CAS:Propyphenazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to be an effective analgesic for chronic arthritis. Propyphenazone is a prodrug that is converted to phenazone and then acetylated in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Propyphenazone, as well as its metabolites, bind to the matrix of articular cartilage, which provides relief from pain. Propyphenazone has been shown to have drug interactions with other drugs that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes. It is also biocompatible with polymer matrices and can be used for sample preparation in vitro methods.
