:Hydrocinchonine
Description:
Hydrocinchonine is an alkaloid derived from the cinchona tree, known for its role in the treatment of malaria and its structural similarity to quinine. It is characterized by its molecular formula, which reflects its complex bicyclic structure, featuring a quinoline moiety. Hydrocinchonine exhibits a range of pharmacological properties, including antimalarial and analgesic effects, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry. The compound is typically found in a crystalline form and is soluble in organic solvents, while its solubility in water is limited. Its stereochemistry contributes to its biological activity, and it can exist in different isomeric forms. Hydrocinchonine's mechanism of action is thought to involve interference with the parasite's ability to metabolize hemoglobin, thereby inhibiting its growth. As with many alkaloids, it may also exhibit side effects, necessitating careful consideration in therapeutic applications. Overall, hydrocinchonine is a significant compound in the field of natural products and pharmacology, with ongoing research into its potential uses and derivatives.

CAS:
(+)-Dihydrocinchonine is a hydrogen bond acceptor that is used as a pharmaceutical preparation. It has been shown to be a multidrug transporter inhibitor, with an IC50 of 0.3 μM against P-glycoprotein (P-gp). (+)-Dihydrocinchonine also inhibits the synthesis of catecholamines by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase, which converts tyrosine to l-dopa. The dihydro derivatives of (+)-Dihydrocinchonine are stable complexes with quinidine and cinchonidine, which are used in tropical medicine for their anti-malarial and anti-fever properties. These derivatives have been shown to cause apoptosis in cancer cells by binding to DNA and preventing transcription, leading to cell death. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells through apoptotic effect.
Formula:C19H24N2OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:296.41 g/mol
