:EDANS
Description:
EDANS, or 5-((2-aminoethyl)amino)naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid, is a fluorescent dye commonly used in biochemistry and molecular biology for labeling and detecting biomolecules. It features a naphthalene core, which contributes to its fluorescent properties, and an aminoethyl side chain that enhances its solubility in aqueous solutions. EDANS exhibits strong fluorescence upon excitation, making it valuable in various applications, including fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) assays, where it can serve as a donor fluorophore. The sulfonic acid group improves its water solubility and stability in biological environments. EDANS is often paired with other fluorophores to create FRET pairs, allowing researchers to study molecular interactions and dynamics in real-time. Its characteristics include high quantum yield, good photostability, and compatibility with a range of biological systems, making it a versatile tool in fluorescence-based assays and imaging techniques. However, as with any chemical substance, proper handling and safety precautions should be observed due to potential toxicity and reactivity.

CAS:The Michaelis-Menten kinetics of N-(Aminoethyl)-5-naphthylamine-1-sulfonic acid (NENSA) have been determined by studying the reaction of NENSA with a variety of acceptors. Basic fibroblasts were found to be a good substrate for this compound and it was shown that proteolytic activity is required for the hydrolysis of NENSA. The toxin is also reactive with the enzyme polymerase chain, which inhibits bacterial growth. In the presence of epidermal growth factor, NENSA has been shown to inhibit proliferation in fetal bovine retinal cells and human epidermal keratinocytes.Formula:C12H14N2O3SPurity:Min. 97 Area-%Color and Shape:Yellow PowderMolecular weight:266.32 g/mol5-(2-Aminoethylamino)-1-Naphthalene Sulfonic Acid(1,5-EDANS)
